WHO WE ARE
Our Vision
We hold the fundamental belief that individuals and families navigating the complexities of Borderline Personality Disorder must be seen, first and always, for their inherent humanity—their unique strengths, experiences, and potential. A diagnosis is a part of their story, but it must never become the definition of their identity. Our commitment begins with treating every person with unwavering respect and dignity, creating a foundation of trust where they feel truly heard and valued.
From this foundation, our role is to provide tailored, compassionate support that empowers individuals to articulate their own aspirations and chart their own path forward. We are dedicated to helping them build the lives they choose, working towards their personal goals in relationships, well-being, and purpose. This process of empowerment is not merely about managing a condition; it is about fostering genuine growth and self-determination.
Ultimately, we envision a reciprocal relationship between personal recovery and community life. By supporting individuals in this way, we enable them to discover and contribute their unique talents, insights, and perspectives to the wider world. A truly inclusive community is one that not only provides appropriate support but also actively welcomes and benefits from the valuable contributions of every member. We believe that everyone affected by BPD can, with the right respect and support, move beyond surviving to truly thriving, enriching the fabric of our shared society in meaningful and essential ways.
• Provide emotional support by offering an
understanding of health challenges.
• Information sharing that should support
maintenance of health and well-being.
• Encourage engagement with mental
health services.
Our Mission
Our mission is to transform the experience of those affected by Borderline Personality Disorder by building a community rooted in understanding, connection, and practical support.
We are dedicated to promoting greater public awareness and compassion for BPD, breaking down the stigma that so often leads to isolation. At the heart of our work is the creation of a safe, inclusive space where individuals and their family members can find a true sense of belonging. Through shared experiences and genuine peer support, we foster connections that allow people to feel accepted and understood, often for the first time.
Beyond this vital community, we provide a foundation of emotional support that acknowledges the real challenges of living with BPD. We empower individuals and families by sharing clear, helpful information and strategies to support their daily health and well-being. Finally, we serve as a bridge, offering guidance and encouragement to help people confidently engage with professional mental health services and build a comprehensive, sustainable path toward healing and stability.
What is BPD?
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a complex and often misunderstood condition that is primarily characterized by pervasive patterns of difficulty in managing emotions, forming a stable sense of self, and navigating interpersonal relationships.
Think of it as having a neurological system that feels emotions with an extraordinary intensity and duration. Everyday feelings of rejection, fear, or anger can be profoundly overwhelming, leading to understandable but often distressing reactions as the individual struggles to cope with this emotional pain. This can manifest as a deep-seated fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, a fluctuating self-image, and impulsive behaviors.
It is crucial to understand that these behaviors are not a choice or a character flaw, but rather outward signs of this significant internal emotional turmoil. Fundamentally, BPD involves a profound struggle with emotional regulation. With the right therapeutic support—such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—compassion, and understanding, individuals with BPD can learn to manage these intense emotions, build a life of stability, and cultivate deeply meaningful connections.
